The film Traumwärts is going on a cinema tour through Germany. The filmmakers accompanied the Race Across America (RAAM, 4,800km, 30,000 metres in altitude) and see the race as a symbol of achieving a personal dream.
Triathlete and endurance athlete Andreas Niedrig wanted to realise his dream of completing the RAAM as a solo rider. This dream was shattered: two days before his departure for the USA, Andreas was injured.
His carers are already in the USA and spontaneously form a team of eight to compete for him. For these riders, a lifelong dream suddenly comes true that they hadn't even dreamt of themselves. The film shows intense, inspiring images of people, moods and landscape panoramas. Along the way, faces, stories and perspectives of people, desires and life dreams flow into the documentary narrative.
