The 41. Ötztal Cycle Marathon will take place on Sunday, 28 August 2022. Two days earlier, the 3rd "Bike 4 Help" prologue will provide a short pre-stress. The prologue on Friday, 26 August 2022, will be held as a mountain sprint in individual time trial mode. A maximum of 200 starters can take part. The route leads over 1.1 kilometres and 105 metres in altitude from the Freizeit Arena Sölden to the Granbichl barrier. "The entry fee is 20 euros and all net proceeds will be donated to the charitable organisation Bike 4 Help. This organisation supports needy families in Tyrol," explains organiser Dominic Kuen.
The prologue will start at 15:00, followed by the award ceremony in the Freizeit Arena sports hall at 19:00. The film documentary about the Ötztal Cycle Marathon will also be shown. Special prizes await the participants and best finishers: The fastest three men and women will receive trophies and non-cash prizes, the fastest 16 men and women will start from starting block 1c at the Ötztaler Cycle Marathon and 20 cyclists will be selected in the raffle to start from the front at the Ötztaler.
Meanwhile, preparations for the 2022 Ötztal Cycle Marathon are in full swing. "We are right on schedule and are really looking forward to the 41st edition! This year the marathon will take place in August, but from next year the 4,000 participants will already start in July," explains Kuen. The 42nd Ötztal Cycle Marathon will take place on 9 July 2023, TOUR reported.
