The organisers of the Ötztaler Cycle Marathon have announced that the event can take place as planned on 31 August 2025. There had recently been discussions about the route and the date of the event; the Ötztaler seemed to be threatened by the renovation of the Lueg Bridge on the A13 Brenner motorway. During the renovation, the bridge is temporarily only passable in one lane and the alternative or diversion traffic then also leads over the Brenner Landstraße. The possibility of closing this connection to motorised traffic during the Ötztal Cycle Marathon was therefore examined particularly critically by the authorities.
For several months, the organiser had to repeatedly point out the pending decision. Now the "Ötzi" announces: "Despite the challenges surrounding the Lueg Bridge, we have found a solution in cooperation with our partners and the authorities and the 44th Ötztal Cycle Marathon can take place as planned on 31 August 2025." This also means that registration for the start lottery can begin as planned on 1 January 2025.
