"In recent weeks, there was still a small hope that at least a handful of races could take place and that a GCC ranking list of some kind could be created, but the cancellations of the Riderman and the Everyman races at Rad am Ring last week have almost completely dashed this hope," reads a press release. After the ProAm amateur race in Hanover was also cancelled yesterday, a meaningful series ranking was no longer possible.
Those responsible for the German Cycling Cup explain that "probably none of the races in the GCC 2020 can take place, because realistically, the signs for the Velorace in Dresden and the Circuit Cycling Nürburgring are more likely to be cancelled than there are positive signs". The press release also indicates that the cancellations are threatening the existence of many organisers: "The organisers in the German Cycling Cup are currently busy trying to save their businesses or make ends meet due to the severe losses caused by the cancellations."
