A successful season comes to an end for the Merkur Cycling Team on 3 October. At the season finale of the German Cycling Cup, the Sparkassen Münsterland Giro, the all-rounder team will be at its best.

Beate Zanner can no longer be denied overall victory in the German Cycling Cup. In the men's race, Patrick Lichan wants to defend his second place at the showdown in Münster, as does the team's second place in the team classification.

"All team members are looking forward to the final in Münster. In its first year, the Merkur Cycling Team and its RaceTeam have established themselves among the best amateur racing teams in Germany," says Markus Adam, team manager and managing director of main sponsor Merkur Druck GmbH. "Our goal was to compete for victory in every race. We have achieved this and our successes whet our appetite for more. We are looking forward to next season."

While Merkur Druck rider Beate Zanner is looking to put the icing on the cake in Münster with her tenth victory in the tenth race of the national everyman race series, the men's and team rankings are still very much up for grabs. Patrick Lichan is in second place overall with 2,539 points behind overall leader Sandro Kühmel (DKV Graakjaer / 2,655) ahead of the season finale. First place is probably out of reach for the Thuringian, but the battle for second place in the German Cycling Cup will be an exciting affair, as Sonosan Multipower rider Frederik Prenzel (2,504) is a strong rider just 35 points behind Lichan.

A look at the overall standings of the best teams in the German Cycling Cup also promises excitement. Here, the strong formation of Sonosan-Multipower leads with a score of 2,674 points ahead of the Merkur Cycling Team with 2,599 points. In third place overall is Team DKV-Graakjaer (2,588), just eleven points behind.
"We are only just ahead of the DKV-Graakjaer team led by Sandro Kühmel.

On the flat course in Münster, the teams will give each other nothing," says Markus Adam, who will be following the racing action as a spectator at the season finale, eagerly anticipating the performance of his team. "Even though we have achieved our goals for the season, our team will be motivated at the start. It will be an interesting race." At the Sparkassen Münsterland Giro, the Merkur Cycling Team will compete over a distance of 140 kilometres. The grand season finale will take place in the finish area on Hindenburgplatz in Münster.
