Anyone who wants a starting place for the Maratona dles Dolomites 2020, you have to be lucky or buy a travel package. There are 9,000 starting places for the cycle marathon - only 4,400 of which will be raffled off. Registration for the draw runs until 5 November - the participants will be drawn shortly afterwards. The coveted starting number costs 121 euros.
Alternatively, cyclists can book an accommodation package including a starting place on the website of the tour operator Holimites www.holimites.com buy.
Traditionally, there are three race routes: The marathon course covers 138 kilometres and 4,230 metres in altitude, the medium course 106 kilometres and 3,130 metres in altitude, and the Sella circuit with 55 kilometres and an altitude difference of 1,780 metres.
There are two more highlights for cyclists in Alta Badia in June: Dolomites Bike Day and Sellaronda Bike Day are two non-competitive events where the roads are closed to motorised traffic. On Dolomites Bike Day on 13 June, the roads between Corvara, Campolongo, Arabba, Pieve di Livinallongo, Falzarego, Valparola, San Cassiano and Corvara are reserved for cyclists. The Sellaronda Bike Day on 27 June includes the routes between Campolongo, Pordoi, Sella and Passo Gardena. Participation is free of charge.
