The traditional Lake Constance Cycle Marathon is entering its 52nd edition on 13 September 2025 and will be presenting itself with an extended range of routes. In addition to the tried-and-tested gold, silver and bronze tours, the platinum tour with 300 kilometres and 2300 metres of elevation gain will be offered for the first time, which circles the whole of Lake Constance including Lake Überlingen. Gravel enthusiasts can also choose between two different routes. The event, organised on a voluntary basis by the RV Altenrhein cycling club, is part of the Swiss Cycling Top Tour, which brings together the most beautiful cycling marathons in Switzerland. The event is aimed at ambitious cyclists as well as amateur athletes and beginners.

Lake Constance Cycle Marathon over 300 km for the first time

The new platinum tour is the most challenging route, covering 300 kilometres and 2300 metres in altitude. It initially runs identically to the Gold Tour, but turns left shortly before the ferry in Staad near Constance to circle Lake Überlingen. It rejoins the Gold Tour at the "Mur du Bodensee" near Meersburg. It is essential to use the GPX file provided to circumnavigate Lake Überlingen, as only the most important points will be signposted. Participants can refresh themselves at a refreshment point at the sports ground of SV Güttingen (Germany) around the middle of the additional route.

The Gold Tour covers 220 kilometres and an elevation gain of around 1500 metres around the Upper and Lower Lakes. It includes all five starting and transit points and includes the ferry crossing from Staad near Constance to Meersburg, which is included in the entry fee. The Silver Tour is ideal for hobby cyclists, which circles the Obersee over 150 kilometres and with an elevation gain of around 1200 metres and passes four starting and crossing points. The shortest racing bike route is the bronze tour with 80 kilometres, which is ideal for families and beginners and leads along the Untersee.

Gravel options at the Lake Constance Marathon

In addition to the road bike routes, the Lake Constance Cycle Marathon 2025 offers two different gravel tours. The 50-kilometre gravel tour leads around Tägerwilen and over the Seerücken. The new 80-kilometre gravel tour runs from Tägerwilen to Stein am Rhein. Both routes promise magnificent views of Lake Constance and the Säntis and lead off the beaten track through the natural landscape of the Swiss Bodensee ridge.

Like the main event, the Gravel Ride also takes place without timekeeping and is designed as a self-guided event. Participants will receive the GPX route file shortly before the event. A refreshment and repair station will be available in Wäldi. There are also numerous fountains with fresh drinking water along the route. All successful participants will receive a special Gravel-Bodensee medal at the finish.

Flexible starting options at the Lake Constance Cycle Marathon

A special feature of the Lake Constance Cycle Marathon is the possibility to start at different locations. For the Racing bike routes can be started in Altenrhein, Tägerwilen, Stein am Rhein, Meersburg or Kressbronn. After identification, participants will receive all the necessary documents such as start number, start map, ferry ticket and refreshment bands as well as information on breakfast, parking and sanitary facilities at the respective start location.

After collecting their starting documents, participants can set off directly onto the route without having to pass the posts for stamping. They only return to the starting point at the end of the tour to receive their medal. The route is marked with orange BRM signposts and yellow information boards and is almost entirely tarmac. As this is not a race, the general rules of the road apply and the route is not cordoned off. Wearing a helmet is compulsory.

Registration and costs

The registration fees for the Lake Constance Cycle Marathon vary depending on the route chosen. The platinum tour costs 80 euros (75 Swiss francs), the gold tour 70 euros (65 Swiss francs), the silver tour 60 euros (55 Swiss francs) and the bronze tour 45 euros (40 Swiss francs). The 80-kilometre gravel tour costs 60 euros (55 Swiss francs), while the 50-kilometre gravel tour costs 50 euros (45 Swiss francs).

Regular registration is possible until 23 August 2025. After this date, late registration is only possible with an additional fee of 10 euros or 10 Swiss francs. The start will be on Saturday, 13 September 2025, between 7:00 and 9:00 a.m., whereby the shorter tours can be started all day.

The route will be updated approximately one week before the event to allow for last-minute changes. In any case, the route marked on site applies. For the platinum tour and the gravel tours, we recommend using the GPX files provided, as not all sections will be fully marked.
