In addition to the Haute Route Alps and the Haute Route Pyrenees, the organiser OC Sports will also be offering the Haute Route Dolomites-Swiss Alps for the first time next year.

The concept of the new event is similar to that of the Haute Route Alps and the Haute Route Pyrenees. Over seven days, the peloton of 500 amateur riders will cross the Dolomites and the Swiss Alps. In total, the participants will cover 900 kilometres on the route from the Adriatic to Lake Geneva and climb around 21,000 metres in altitude. The route includes steep climbs in the rugged landscape of the Dolomites and well-known passes such as the Stelvio Pass, the Gavia Pass and the Furka Pass. The organiser plans to announce the final route details before the end of the year.

Interesting for extreme cyclists: the three events will be held one immediately after the other. This means that the most motivated participants can take part in two or even three Haute Routes in succession, covering 2400 kilometres and around 60,000 metres of altitude in three weeks.

The event dates:

16 August - 22 August 2014: 1st edition of the Haute Route Dolomites-Swiss Alps
24 August - 30 August 2014: 4th edition of the Haute Route Alps
1 September - 7 September 2014: 2nd edition of the Haute Route Pyrenees

The entry fee per event is 1500 euros (excluding accommodation), repeat participants pay 1350 euros. Those who register for several events also pay a reduced entry fee.
The second registration phase ends on Friday, 14 November 2013. A third registration phase, in which the remaining starting places will be allocated, will start on 1 December 2013.
