Some have already recognised it: the name Grevet is a combination of Gravel and Brevet. CX-Berlin conceived the 2021 series. Since then, not only has the number of participants grown, but also the number of regions and therefore the number of routes on offer.
There are four gravel routes in each region, ranging from medium to really long. All routes are 100 per cent scouted and built in such a way that (almost) everything is rideable. There are no kilometre-long root trails.
A classic brevet series starts with a 200-kilometre tour and builds up to distances of 800, 1000 or more kilometres. To qualify for Paris-Brest-Paris, four brevets of 200, 300, 400 and 600 kilometres must be successfully completed in the year of participation.
Grevet offers a similar series. It starts with a shorter distance, which should be roughly equivalent to a 200 road race in terms of time. The following distance is longer and so on. Those who have successfully mastered all four distances, i.e. a quartet, enter the circle of Olympians and qualify to take part in the Supergrevet. This goes hand in hand with priority registration.
Grevet quartets can be found in various regions of Germany:
A Grevet route is also offered in Austria. The Gravel Grinderz Graz have scouted a long-distance route from Graz to Vienna. The Supergrevet with the name "Distanzradfahrt Wien-Berlin" starts, how could it be otherwise with the name, in Austria.
The Supergrevet from Vienna to Berlin aims to revive the classic Vienna-Berlin endurance cycle race from 1893. The route is based on the original route from 1893 and leads over 800 kilometres of gravel paths from capital to capital.
Grevet will also be offering a gravel event in 2023: from 29 September to 3 October 2023 in the Harz Mountains. There will be different routes for all fitness levels on site, as well as test bikes, technical workshops and campfire talks. Tiny houses in the middle of the Harz forests serve as accommodation: minimalist, but with comfort and style. A hearty breakfast and dinner with vegan options provide the necessary sustenance. If it's cold or you need an extra dose of relaxation, a tiny house with a Finnish sauna will help.
