Two events offer amateur athletes Italian classics fun in 2016: on 20 March 2016, parts of the Milano-San Remo route can be ridden, while the entire distance is on the programme on 5 June.

On 19 March 2016, San Remo will host the 107th edition of the Milan-San Remo professional race. It is the longest race of the season - 293 kilometres from Milan to the Italian Riviera.

On Sunday 20 March, amateur athletes can take part in the Granfondo San Remo La Classicissima experience the final kilometres of the professional race. The 120-kilometre route leads up to the Cipressa and the Poggio di Sanremo, among other places. The finish line for the amateur riders is at the Poggio. Registration is already open and currently costs 30 euros.

On 5 June, the 46th edition of the Granfondo Milano-Sanremo Cicloturistica takes place. Here, cyclists can ride the entire route over almost 300 kilometres. The starting place currently costs 60 euros.
