The twelfth edition of Rad am Ring will see a premiere: On the initiative of Profile Design, a time trial for 250 starters has been added to the programme of the cycling classic at the Nürburgring.

The race will start on Friday, 25 July 2014 at 8 pm as part of the opening programme. The route starts on the stage in the Expo area and leads via the pit lane directly onto the legendary Nordschleife. After 22 kilometres, the bike finish is at the finish line of the Grand Prix circuit. The time trial promises new bike records in terms of average speed and thus opens the hunt for the lap record. Rad am Ring is particularly famous on the European scene for its 24-hour races.

Lap records on the legendary Nürburgring-Nordschleife circuit are minor heroic deeds among fans of the "Green Hell" and their owners are the "kings of the Nordschleife". With the organisation of the Profile Design Time Trial, the organisers of Rad am Ring 2014 are opening the hunt for the top mark for cyclists. On 25 July at 8 p.m., the first starter will leave the ramp from the stage in the Expo area and then another 250 participants will take up the fight against the clock and the "Green Hell".

The route chosen for this discipline measures 22 kilometres and offers all the challenges of the Nürburgring-Nordschleife: over 500 metres in altitude, 83 bends, a gradient of up to 17 percent and a slope of up to 10 percent. Not a classic time trial, as organisation manager Hanns-Martin Fraas emphasises with these key figures in mind. The race organisers have therefore also formulated restrictions in the material regulations: disc wheels at the front and rear are prohibited due to their susceptibility to strong crosswinds.

Registration for the time trial is open from 20 March via the website www.radamring.de possible. The participation fee is 35 euros.

As an additional offer for triathletes, the time trial classification will be combined with the 10-km Nürburgring run to form a kind of duathlon. The race starts on Saturday 26 July at 9 a.m. and is free of charge for all interested time triathletes.
