Frankfurt/Main (pps) The personnel carousel at the German Triathlon Union continues to turn: About a week after Ute Mückel was replaced by Ramon Gomez-Islinger, long-time managing director Jörg Barion is leaving the DTU.
Gomez-Islinger is coming...
Just two days after the resignation of Ute Mückel (Detmold), the German Triathlon Union presented the successor for the post of Vice-President of Competitive Sports of the DTU on 20 November. The 43-year-old Ramon Gomez-Islinger from Weiden will take over the post of Vice-President of Competitive Sports on an interim basis in accordance with Section 5.3.2 of the new statutes until confirmation by the Association Council. The sports and biology teacher at the state secondary school for boys in Weiden, Upper Palatinate, was already a member of the Bavarian Triathlon Association (BTV) executive committee in 1989, supervised the national duathlon team as a DTU association coach at major international events between 1993 and 1994 and has been BTV Vice President since 2008.
Ute Mückel resigned from her post ten days after her election as Vice-President of Competitive Sports of the German Triathlon Union on 8 November in Frankfurt, as new statutes had been passed in the meantime, according to which the former top athlete would have become liable with her private assets: according to the new DTU statutes, the Vice-President of Competitive Sports is a member of the three-person Executive Committee and is therefore legally liable
Barion goes...
Just four days later, on 24 November, the top management of the governing body for triathletes, led by President Claudia Wisser (Staufenberg) - who has also only been in office for 16 days - announced another personnel change: Managing Director Jörg Barion (Darmstadt) and the DTU are going their separate ways after more than 14 years. "For the time being, we will continue without a managing director," explained the 39-year-old lawyer Wisser.
