Roberto Cunico, winner of the Ötztaler Cycle Marathon in the past two years, has tested positive for Epo at a Granfondo in Italy. He was provisionally suspended by the CONI. The organisers of the Ötztaler Cycle Marathon, which will take place next Sunday (30.8.2015), have removed Cunico from the start list.

The cycling marathon scene has been shaken by the next serious doping case: Roberto Cunico, one of the strongest cycling marathon specialists from Italy and last year's winner of the Ötztaler Cycling Marathon, has tested positive in a doping test. Traces of artificial Epo were found in the sample taken at the Granfondo Sestriere-Marmotte on 2 August 2015. This was reported by the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) on its website. According to CONI, Cunico is provisionally excluded from all races. The organisers of the Ötztal Cycling Marathon have removed the Italian from the start list for the event next Sunday (30 August 2015). Emanuel Nösig, who finished second behind Cunico in the 2014 Ötztaler Cycle Marathon, had already tested positive at a race in Austria last year.
