At five checkpoints in five cul-de-sacs, cake awaits everyone who takes part in the event. Perhaps the question arises: Why dead ends? Dead ends are often avoided and it is precisely this fact that the organiser Dominik Bokstaller addressed.
Small roads cut into the rock, steep alpine paths and rustic tunnels lead practically traffic-free up to the alp or to the end of the valley.
Self-supported means that everyone cycles without outside help, without having to book accommodation in advance, without public transport and without a motor. There is the option of starting alone or in a team of two.

In it, the filmmaker Jan Mühlethaler captured exciting impressions: Emotions, dreamlike landscapes and stories about the event can be seen and make you want to experience something similar yourself.
At the Dead Ends & Cake start, finish and five checkpoints are set. Everything in between is left to the participants themselves: Choice of route, catering and, if necessary, a place to sleep.

Start and finish: Sankt Gallen (Switzerland)
Route: All participants are free to choose their own route. Depending on the route planning, the route will be around 500 kilometres long with 9000 metres of altitude.
Which wheel: Road bike, gravel bike, mountain bike - the choice of bike depends entirely on your personal choice of route.
Cake: At each checkpoint there is cake for all those who take on the Dead Ends & Cake challenge.
Four minutes last year it took until all starting places had been allocated. This year there will therefore be a lottery. The Registration is open from 21 to 27 February 2022. The organiser attaches great importance to a Colourful starting field and therefore awards 50% of the places go to women and 50% to men.
