In addition to the race, the organisers promise a "beer, mud and chips party with a big after-show party and the band Zwei Doofe, kein Gedanken". That sounds unusual. Cyclocross and gravel bikes are permitted in the hobby race. Training on the course is possible at the specified times.
There is also a race for amateur starters as part of the Bavarian Cross Championships. Even if you don't win a championship title, a sporty circuit is guaranteed. The men race over 21 kilometres and the women over 12 kilometres.
For 15 euros you get 30 minutes plus two laps. Mountain bikes are also allowed on the course for the hobby race. The event is organised by SV Grün Weiß Wittenberg-Piesteritz e.V. - information can be found at www.crosscup.org.
This is only the second time the cross race has been held in Heidelberg. The hobby class race lasts 40 minutes and should also be suitable for beginners. MTB allowed.
Cycling has been organised by RV Concordia Reute for over 100 years. A special feature of this weekend: there are not only cross-country races on offer, but also a Run&Bike in which teams of two start. One runner completes the first lap (approx. 830 metres). In the transition zone, the team partner takes the bike for the next lap (approx. 1020 metres). It doesn't matter whether it's just women, just men or mixed teams.
"Rain showers, squalls and lots of mud" is the caption on last year's photo. The mud-encrusted legs on the podium photos also tell the story of the conditions. The race takes place on a 2000 metre circuit in Melle. You can start on a cross bike, gravel bike or MTB. The race is part of the Weser Ems Cup.
