For the third time, the Tour of Sylt at the end of August will see celebrities cycling around the island. Former professional cyclist Erik Zabel will be taking on the route, as will paracycling Olympian Denise Schindler.

The event invites you to enjoy a relaxed bike ride, no matter which bike you are using. Participants can choose between two distances: The long route covers 100 kilometres along the coast of Sylt. The short route is 65 kilometres. The start and finish point is at the storm shelter in Kampen. The starting blocks will be divided according to bike type: vintage bikes will start first, followed by modern racing bikes and then all other bike types. The organiser promises "delicious and nutritious refreshments" at the five refreshment points. The tour of the island will take place on Saturday 30 August. There will be a pasta party at Hotel Strandhörn the evening before and an after-race party at Hotel Strandhörn on the Saturday following the ride. The entry fee of 99 euros also includes the pasta party on Friday and the party on Saturday evening.

The island tour is organised by Cycling Paradise GmbH. The organiser has already invited cyclists to Sylt in 2023 and 2024. A social ride also took place this year.

Tour of Sylt: information about the island

Sylt is around 38 kilometres long and only 320 metres wide at its narrowest point. The northernmost point is List, while Hörnum lies to the south. The island is characterised by dunes, heathland, cliffs and long sandy beaches. There are also charming villages with traditional thatched-roof houses. The island is connected to the mainland via the Hindenburgdamm, with trains and car trains running regularly. Alternatively, there are ferry connections and an airport in Westerland.

Sylt has a well-developed network of cycle paths that cover the entire island. The paths lead through varied landscapes, including dunes, forests and along the Wadden Sea.
