Three victories, a second place and a retirement at his first RAAM start in 2009 - that's part of the statistics. The rest of his five starts at the RAAM so far look like this: Last year, Christoph Strasser set a new course record of 7 days, 15 hours, 56 minutes.
The Slovenian Jure Robic leads the leaderboard with five triumphs, followed by the two Styrians Wolfgang Fasching and Christoph Strasser with three victories each. "A fourth victory at the RAAM would be a dream, as would a third success in a row, which no other athlete has achieved so far. Improving the course record is also possible, but that depends heavily on the weather conditions," says the Kraubather, describing his goals.
On 2 June, Strasser will fly to the United States, where the immediate preparations for the RAAM will begin. In the USA, Christoph will be preparing specifically for the heat, as temperatures of over 40 degrees Celsius are normal, especially in the first two days after the start, when the race passes through desert sections.
