Chasing world records in Lusatia

On the first weekend in August (31 July to 1 August), there will be a hunt for world records on the Dekra Testoval in Lausitz. Racing cyclists and riders with disguised recumbents will be aiming to break several world records in the long-distance category (including kilometres ridden in 12 and 24 hours).

Current world record holders will try to shine at other distances or beat their own record. A similar event has only ever been held in America and only for the sprint and high-speed records.

"I've been involved with high-speed vehicles for 20 years. There has never been such a concentration of first-class long-distance drivers and vehicles," promises co-organiser Jörg Basler.

Last year, a 24-hour distance record was set during the test run for the event.
