Selected cycling marathons have formed the BDR Cycling Marathon Cup Germany for years. After two years of coronavirus, all 20 planned events will finally take place again. The marathon series starts on 23 April in the Spreewald. Some events are still subject to coronavirus restrictions.
About the Cycling Marathon Cup
The series for long-distance riders has existed since 1990. There is no official timekeeping, a route of at least 200 kilometres and often many metres of elevation gain in the German low mountain ranges. The routes are signposted and there are refreshments, a breakdown service and first aid along the way. After five successfully completed cycle marathons, a finisher's jersey is awarded as an incentive and honour, and after 10 completed marathons, the title of "super finisher" is awarded.
3 new cycle marathons become part of the series
In 2022, three events will be part of the series for the first time: the cycling marathon in the Spreewald, the "Marathon to hell" from FC St. Pauli and the cycling marathon for the BDR Bundes-Radsport-Treffen, which will take place in Schwerin from 24 to 30 July 2022.
