Rudolf Massak, Secretary General of the Austrian Cycling Federation, confirmed the reports of a conspicuous doping sample to TOUR. He did not know whether the athlete could still apply for a cross-check. According to Tyrolean daily newspaper is a Tyrolean rider who has mainly achieved podium successes in everyman races.
"After we received information, we carried out spot checks in the amateur area. Recently there were two positive samples in the masters area and now in the amateur area. It's very bitter for the amateurs, I can't understand it," explained Massak.
The Austrian National Anti-Doping Agency did not want to provide any information on the case - including whether the athlete can still appeal. "The independent Austrian Anti-Doping Legal Commission has not issued a press release in this regard, which is why we are also unable to comment on a possible violation of the anti-doping regulations," press spokesman David Müller told TOUR.
