On the last Sunday in July, around 1,500 cyclists could cycle through Regensburg and across the Bavarian Forest. Due to the ongoing vaccination programme and the rapid testing procedures, the cycling club is hoping for the green light for its cycling marathon, according to its press release. Around 1,000 starting places have already been allocated.
The basic requirement for participation in the marathon is either a negative test result or a complete vaccination. A concept that takes into account all the necessary hygiene measures is currently being drawn up. According to this, the mass start is to be replaced by additional time slots and extensive start zones in order to maintain the required distances. The necessary hygiene measures must also be observed at the refreshment stations along the route, with ready-made packed lunches instead of self-catering. The pasta party the day before will also be cancelled. This year's Arber Cycling Marathon is all about cycling.
The Veloclub is currently in talks to obtain the licences. However, the responsible authorities have not yet made any concrete statements. In the event of a cancellation due to the pandemic, the booked starting places for the 2022 Arber Cycling Marathon will be transferred.
