The starting signal for the 1st Frankfurt City Triathlon (FCT) will be given on 5 September 2010. The FCT starts in Langener Waldsee, leads over a completely closed bike course into Frankfurt city centre and ends with a run through Frankfurt city centre.
It is possible to start in the Olympic distance and everyman triathlon categories. The latter, with a 400 metre swim, 13 kilometre bike ride and a five kilometre run, also offers beginners the opportunity to start. The entry fee is 70 euros, participants without a DTU starting pass also need a day licence for 16 euros.
Swimming technique training and spinning sessions are now being offered under the motto "Fit for the triathlon in twelve weeks". Triathlon pro Meike Krebs from Frankfurt will get the athletes up to speed in terms of cycling and Annette Gasper, who has been a swim coach for many years, will ensure that the athletes get through the Langener Waldsee lake quickly with a swim training programme.
City Triathlon GmbH wants to bring a total of 2,500 athletes to the starting line this first year.
