A hiking and climbing region is marketed under the term "Mullerthal" - sometimes with, sometimes without the umlaut, depending on whether it is in German or French. The 112-kilometre-long Mullerthal Trail winds its way through dense deciduous forests and past sandstone cliffs that were exposed long ago by the Sauer and Schwarze Ernz rivers. If you have time, leave your racing bike for a day and choose hiking boots or a mountain bike to explore the trail, which passes small waterfalls and then winds its way back up the mountain over stone steps and through narrow rocky valleys.
You can also see some beautiful sections of it on a racing bike. Luc leads the group to a small stream whose water is clear and cold. Only a few rays of sunlight penetrate through the dense forest canopy around us onto the forest floor. Only the babbling of the stream and the chirping of the birds can be heard. A place of tranquillity.
