The professional cyclists enjoyed warm temperatures and plenty of sunshine at the Tour of Valencia at the beginning of February. Brandon McNulty from UAE Team Emirates secured victory there - also thanks to the help of Felix Großschartner. The Austrian helped to bring the American's leader's jersey to the finish line on the last day.

The weather was also good for the UAE Tour. The women rode first in the Emirates from 8 to 11 February, followed by the men from 19 to 25 February. As always, it was a very sprint-heavy tour. Lorena Wiebes won two out of four stages in the women's race, Tim Merlier three out of seven in the men's race.

At the end of the month, O Gran Camino in Spain - a four-day stage race - provided a stark contrast. Jonas Vingegaard dominated his season debut in a similar fashion to last year. The Danish Tour de France winner won three out of four stages in very bad weather. The time trial on the first day therefore did not count towards the overall classification and the fourth stage even had to be shortened.

And then there was the "Opening Weekend" - the start of the classics season: crashes, a great atmosphere, unpredictable race turns, it was all there. The Visma | Lease a Bike team had the competition firmly under control. Marianne Vos won the women's Omloop het Nieuwsblad, Jan Tratnik won the men's race ahead of Nils Politt (UAE Team Emirates). Wout van Aert also came out on top at Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne.

It remains to be seen whether this trend will be confirmed in March. There are also numerous classics on the agenda this month, where the competition will put Visma | Lease a Bike to the test.
