As the new Fluxx headlight made of polished aluminium from Specialized does not comply with the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO), it is not permitted to illuminate roads within Germany. However, off-road cyclists can enjoy the elegant little light, which produces either 400 or 200 lumens of continuous light as well as pulsed and flickering light, depending on the light level. During our test ride on forest trails, the 120 gram headlight impressed us with a balanced carpet of light that illuminates the area directly in front of the bike over a large area without glare and allows obstacles 40 to 50 metres away to be recognised early on. The wired remote control (accessory) is very convenient, but it is annoying that analogue wireless computers lose their signal and the odometer therefore fails. Charging via USB plug takes a maximum of two and a half hours. At the second-highest light level, the lamp burns for three hours, and 75 minutes when fully switched on. That's just about enough time to buy the new lamp in Switzerland or Austria and try it out on the way home. Unfortunately, Fluxx is not available to buy in Germany.
PLUS Great finish; good light image; fast charging
MINUS Not StVZO-compliant; low light duration at the highest light level
