SIGMA-ELEKTRO presents a new generation of bicycle lights that are specially tailored to the needs of children and families. The AURA 40, AURA 50 and AURA MICRO front lights and the HIRO 10, NYTE 10 and HIRO MICRO rear lights are now available from specialist retailers and via the manufacturer's website. The products from Neustadt an der Weinstraße are characterised by improved lighting technology, simple handling and robust construction. The AURA 40 offers an illumination level of 40 lux (125 lumens) with a light range of 50 metres, while the AURA 50 with 50 lux (160 lumens) and a light range of 60 metres ensures even greater visibility. Both models have two light modes: in high mode they achieve a light duration of nine hours, in eco mode even up to 29 hours. The AURA 50 is also equipped with an automatic brightness sensor. The HIRO 10 rear light offers a visibility range of 500 metres and a light duration of up to 13 hours. Prices start at 19.95 euros for the rear lights and 39.95 euros for the front lights. Front and rear light sets are also available at prices between 29.95 and 64.95 euros.
The market launch of the new lights is accompanied by a creative anime-style campaign that makes the topic of visibility in road traffic particularly accessible to children. At the centre of the "RIDE SAFE TO SCHOOL" campaign are animated superheroes that symbolise the functions of the lights. The characters NYTE, "Captain of Light", and HIRO, the "Safety Commander", are intended to make the smart raccoon KOTA and therefore all cyclists visible and safe in every situation. "With our new lights, we are not only focussing on technical innovation, but also on emotionally accessible communication," explains Daniel Conka, Division Manager Product Development at SIGMA. "Our superheroes are designed to motivate children to engage with the topic of safety - and at the same time show parents how important good bicycle lighting is."
The new SIGMA lights offer several technical improvements that are particularly relevant for use by children. The optimised light pattern ensures better visibility and visibility in the dark - a decisive safety factor for children on the way to school. The lights' rechargeable batteries offer long runtimes, making them reliable for everyday use. Installation has been simplified with a screw or silicone mount and quick-release function, so that parents can attach the lights quickly and children can operate them easily. The housings of the AURA 40 and AURA 50 are splash-proof to IP44 and robustly constructed to withstand the demands of everyday school life. Particularly practical for children and parents: the mode memory function saves the last light level used, while the short-click function displays the battery status without having to switch on the light - useful for a quick check before setting off.
In addition to the main models, SIGMA has also developed more compact versions. The MICRO lights are particularly suitable for smaller bikes, short distances or flexible use. The AURA MICRO front light has two light modes and is easily attached to the handlebars with an elasticated strap. Its counterpart, the HIRO MICRO rear light, can also be attached to bags, rucksacks or saddlebags in addition to being mounted on the seat post thanks to an integrated clip. This makes it particularly versatile for children, commuters or anyone looking for an additional, mobile lighting solution. Both MICRO models are StVZO-compliant, can be charged via USB-C and are characterised by intuitive operation. The AURA MICRO achieves a battery life of up to six hours in low mode, while the HIRO MICRO offers up to four hours of lighting time. The set of both MICRO lights is available for 29.95 euros.
The "RIDE SAFE TO SCHOOL" campaign is part of SIGMA's existing commitment to greater road safety. "With the RIDE SAFE TO SCHOOL campaign, we are sending out another strong signal in favour of greater visibility and safety for children in road traffic," explains Pamela Busch, Division Manager Global Communication at SIGMA. "In line with our existing commitment with partners such as BiciBus and Deutsche Verkehrswacht, this campaign is a further step towards anchoring the topic of safe cycling to school even more broadly in the public eye. Visibility saves lives - and the safety of children is particularly important to us as a brand." The campaign is not only intended to entertain, but also to have a learning effect and raise awareness of the importance of good visibility in road traffic - especially at dusk or in poor light conditions when children are travelling to and from school.
