In practice, the Fidlock proved to be one of the most convenient solutions in the test. The smartphone is attached to the mount via an adhesive pad and, thanks to the magnetic guidance, almost automatically slots into the correct position. The vacuum system then ensures a secure hold. To remove it, you simply need to press the retaining ring downwards, which requires a bit of finesse only if you’re wearing long gloves. Another plus point: unlike with some clamp-style mounts, the side control buttons remain fully accessible.

Weighing just 51 grams, the Fidlock is also the lightest mount in the comparison and is therefore particularly appealing to riders who are conscious of weight. In our test, the connection proved to be slightly less torsionally rigid than the systems from Quad Lock or SP Connect, which rely on a mechanical locking mechanism. However, this impression is based on our test setup using a universal pad. Installation is straightforward thanks to the two brackets supplied for different handlebar diameters; alternatively, the mount can also be attached to aero handlebars using cable ties. The handling is impressive thanks to the vacuum-magnet technology: the smartphone docks magnetically; to release it, simply press the locking ring. All the buttons on the phone remain accessible. On bumpy sections, the smartphone wobbles slightly.
