Garmin Forerunner 620
More of a smartwatch than a heart rate monitor, the new Forerunner 620 from Garmin is the successor to the Forerunner 610. This training companion is more geared towards running, but can also be used as a bike computer thanks to its GPS function.

In use, the relatively logical, in many places simplified and "intelligent" operation is pleasing: for example, the watch offers to save the data after you have pressed the stop button. Once WLAN access via computer has been installed, the watch automatically sends the training data to the Garmin Connect analysis platform as soon as you connect to your home wireless network. The calculation of maximum oxygen uptake (VO2max), which according to the manufacturer is almost at laboratory level, should be emphasised. This allows you to draw conclusions about your fitness level - also in comparison to your own age group - and could previously only be determined using spiroergometry. The device even analyses running style and dynamics via an acceleration sensor and the evaluation of various data. Excessive ambition is curbed by the display of the recommended recovery time. This adds up to a lot of values and functions that need to be interpreted - and paid for. If GPS and classic heart rate monitor functions are enough for you, the simpler new Forerunner 220 is also an option.
