For a smartwatch that offers sports tracking, routing and smart functions for messaging, telephony, health data and weather, the Huawei GT 3 costs just under 250 euros. We tested the smart watch.

However, this variety also creates a rather confusing menu with many sub-items, which can be streamlined and customised with the help of the Huawei Health app. The watch offers intelligent sports functions such as app-controlled training plans and reminders, a running pace control and customised goals.

Smart training functions

During the training session, the Huawei GT 3 automatically receives announcements from the digital coach regarding distance, completion time and exertion. The wealth of data collected (heart rate, skin temperature, blood oxygen) is also attractive for athletes who want to analyse their training accurately. Not to be scoffed at is the long battery life, which the manufacturer claims is up to 14 days: With one hour of sports tracking a day and round-the-clock use of the basic functions, we only had to recharge the GT 3 after eleven days. The link via smartphone app for routing is not intuitive at first, but once you have familiarised yourself with the menu, the import of GPX data and live routing run flawlessly.
