Smartphone mounts are designed for cyclists who want to position their smartphone securely and clearly visible on the handlebars as a control centre for navigation, training data or communication. In our test, prices range from 25 to 90 euros; at just under 40 euros, the Acid holder* in the lower mid-range. The design is based on a classic, robust construction; the smartphone is secured using a knurled screw and metal brackets.
In terms of build quality and the feel of the materials, the holder makes a thoroughly positive impression. It is fitted in the traditional way using tools, which, whilst requiring a little more effort than tool-free solutions, ensures a solid and permanently secure fit. Handy: the smartphone can be used in both portrait and landscape orientation. The clamping force is adjusted using a large knurled screw, which allows for precise control and adaptation to different smartphone sizes.
In everyday use, the Acid mount impresses with its secure grip and ease of use. Depending on the phone model, however, the mounting arms may partially cover the side control buttons. The weight also reveals a real weakness: at 170 grams, the Acid is the heaviest mount in the test and weighs more than three times as much as the lightest model, which weighs just 51 grams

Weighing in at 170 grams, the Acid mount from Cube is the heaviest in this comparison, but its solid metal construction impresses with its excellent build quality. The side clamps can be finely adjusted using the knurled screw and hold the smartphone very securely in place without any wobble. A tool is required to adjust the angle, which makes it difficult to make spontaneous adjustments whilst on the move. Depending on the smartphone, the clamps may block access to some control buttons; we also recommend using a protective case for your mobile. The smartphone can be aligned precisely in line with the stem, creating a tidy look. A somewhat bulky but very sturdy mount.
