Cube Nuroad C:62 One 2027: A carbon update for the budget-busting gravel bike

We had already praised the identically constructed 25/26 model of the Cube Nuroad C:62 One in the TOUR test for its “unrivalled price”. The fact that the Upper Palatinate-based manufacturer has now also fitted the bike with carbon wheels for €1,999 is the icing on the cake. The 1x12 drivetrain, with a small 40-tooth chainring and MTB cassette, offers light climbing gears, but reaches its limits sooner at high speeds and has larger gear steps. – Florentin Vesenbeckh, Test Editor

A high-quality carbon frame, excellent geometry, top-of-the-range spec: with these features, the Nuroad C:62 One 2025 takes top honours in the test in the TOUR: Test of gravel bikes under 2,000 euros. The frame of this carbon speedster remains unchanged for 2027 – and so do its excellent handling and low weight. When it comes to spec, however, Cube has gone the extra mile with its most affordable carbon model, fitting it with carbon wheels. The lightweight Newmen Advanced C34 wheels are likely to noticeably improve the bike’s already nimble handling and quick acceleration.

Frame and fork

The frame is made from Cubes C:62 carbon and is designed to accommodate fixed mudguards and a luggage rack. An unusual feature is the option for a side stand. This makes the bike ideal as a fast and sporty solution for commuting and everyday use. The flexing carbon seatpost from Newmen provides the gravel bike with a high level of riding comfort, as confirmed by the laboratory measurements from our TOUR test. The cables run entirely within the frame or through the headset. An integrated seatpost clamp ensures a clean look, although the bolts are constantly exposed to dirt.

The carbon fork also features mounts for mudguards and a lowrider luggage rack. The frame is designed with additional mounting points for extra storage space for drinks or tools.

Cube specifies a maximum tyre width of 50 millimetres. With mudguards fitted, tyres up to 45 millimetres wide should be possible. The Nuroad C:62 One comes as standard with 45-millimetre-wide Schwalbe G-One R Pro tyres in the Tubeless-Ready version.

​Drivetrain: Shimano GRX with a single-chainring setup

For the drivetrain, Cube has opted for a single-chainring configuration. The Shimano GRX crankset features a 40-tooth chainring, whilst at the rear there is a 12-speed rear derailleur from the GRX RD-RX822-SGS series. The cassette is from Shimano’s Deore range – originally designed for mountain bikes – and offers a gear range of 10 to 51 teeth.

The gear range thus extends from a fast gear for tarmac sections to a very low gear for climbing. In the lowest gear, the gear ratio is around 0.78. This is ideal for steep climbs and loose terrain. Compared with a 2-speed system, however, there are larger gaps between the individual gears. Particularly on flat roads or when changing pace, this can often lead to compromises in cadence. For ambitious speed-seeking rides, the highest gear may be too low.

Cockpit and contact points

For the cockpit, Cube combines its own CIS stem with a Newmen Advanced Gravel Bar 318 made from carbon. The handlebars are between 400 and 440 millimetres wide, depending on the frame size. Stem lengths range from 80 millimetres in XS to 110 millimetres in XL.

The Nuroad C:62 One isn’t a minimalist race gravel bike, but a versatile all-rounder. Compared to other gravel bikes in this price range, however, it certainly feels sporty. Its low weight and excellent frame, in particular, give the bike a quick acceleration and a lively ride. Nevertheless, it doesn’t lack comfort for long rides. And it’s also well-suited to everyday use, thanks to mounting points for mudguards, a luggage rack and even a side stand.
