Marc Hirschi first attracted attention in 2015 with his victory at the Grand Prix Rüebliland, having previously also won the Swiss junior championship on the road.
Hirschi switched to the Sunweb development team in 2018. At the European Championships in the same year, he won the U23 race title and crowned the season a few months later with the world road race title in the U23 category.
In 2020, he achieved his first stage win in a Grand Tour on the 12th stage of the Tour de France in Sarran. A short time later, Hirschi finished third in the world championship road race, won the Fleche Wallonne, a prestigious classic, before finishing the season with a second place in Liège-Bastogne-Liège. Hirschi was named Swiss Cyclist of the Year this year for his outstanding performances.
In mid-2021, Hirschi switched to UAE Team Emirates, for whom he won several one-day races in 2022, including the Grand Prix of the Canton of Aargau.
