The biggest German stage race starts on 21 August and ends after five stages on 25 August. This means that the race will take place at the same time as the Vuelta a Espana, which starts on 17 August. The stage locations will be announced in the coming months.
"Cycling is experiencing a momentum in Germany. More participants in the mass sport races, more interest in the TV broadcasts and the enormous fan enthusiasm on site show the great potential," said Tour boss Matthias Pietsch.
Last year, the race was extended from four to five days. This year Belgian Ilan Van Wilder won the round tripwhich a total of six million fans watched on television. According to the organisers, this represented an increase of 20 percent compared to the previous year.
