The entry-level Sora groupset is being completely revised. The biggest change: The Shimano Sora R3000 will also be available with disc brakes.
The SORA R3000 for the 2017 model year is available as a 9-speed groupset. There is a choice of a double or triple crank. Shimano promises better braking performance with the mechanical rim brakes. The groupset also offers the option of using mechanical disc brakes. The Shimano WH-RX31 wheels with E-Thru technology were also presented. Shimano understands this to mean a 12 mm thru-axle that enables a quick wheel change via an adjustment system.
The Sora is designed for entry-level road bikes, fitness bikes and city bikes. The group offer therefore also includes a crank with integrated mudguard and Rapidfire Plus shifters for flat handlebars. Shimano did not provide any information on the sales price.
