Magura invented the first hydraulic brake for mountain bikes in 1987. Now the German brake expert is launching models for time trial bikes and racing bikes on the market. According to its own statements, it is the "world's lightest hydraulic rim brake for the road".

Together with the Canadian bike manufacturer Cervélo, the long-established Swabian company presents the Magura RT8 TT hydraulic rim brake, which was designed for triathlon and time trial bikes. According to the manufacturer, the new development is characterised by four factors: high braking power, fine modulation, low weight and an aerodynamic design optimised in the wind tunnel. The RT8 TT weighs just 495 grams and is advertised as maintenance-free.

In the 2012 season, the brake will be fitted exclusively to Cervélo's P5 time trial machine. The new RT8 TT is approved by the International Cycling Union (UCI). It will celebrate its race premiere in mid-March at the Ironman in Australia. As a sponsor of the Garmin-Barracuda team, Magura is also bringing the RT to the start of the Tour de France time trial.

In addition to the RT8 TT triathlon brake, the RT8 converter road bike brake will also be available in 2012. There will also be a cheaper version of both models - the RT6 TT and the RT6 converter.
