The most exciting innovation from Shimano is the 105 groupset. For the first time, it comes with hydraulic disc brakes, but without a specific brake disc; Shimano recommends the well-known Ice-Tech SM-RT70. Alongside the disc version, the groupset will be available with revised rim brakes. The ST-R7020 shift brake levers allow a larger adjustment range for hands of different sizes. The 105 R7000 also offers an STI model (ST-R7025) for the hydraulic brakes for cyclists with small hands: the angle of the lever to the handlebars and outwards has been changed accordingly. Following the revision of the mechanics, Shimano promises "faster and smoother shifting with shorter lever travel". There are various gear ratios: a "mid-compact" crank with 52/36 teeth as well as the tried and tested cranks with 50/34 and 53/39 teeth. New cassettes are available for gravel or cross: with 11-30 teeth (CS-R7000) and 11-34 teeth (CS-HG700-11). The new Shimano 105 R7000 will be available in black or silver.
