If a sprinter shifts gears in the last few metres, he not only loses valuable time, but usually also the victory. To prevent such a mishap, Shimano offers an extra.

Shimano offers the SW 7972 additional shifter as a supplement to the electronic Di2 shifting system. Two shift buttons, each weighing just eight grams, are fixed below the brake levers with adhesive tape - ideally where the thumbs rest when sprinting. Unusual, but easy to learn: Both shifters only operate the rear derailleur. A smaller sprocket is shifted on the right and a larger one on the left. A template for cutting recesses for the shifters in the handlebar tape is included.
