Perfectly fitted and in new condition, the encapsulated Ride-on shift cables from Gore are a joy to ride.

Particularly with shifting systems from SRAM and older Campagnolo shifting systems, the operating forces are noticeably lower than with normal cables. This is due to an extremely slippery coating on the cables, which run under a transparent liner. However, there is a risk of frustration if even the slightest mistake is made during installation. When threading the cables through the shift brake levers, it is all too easy for even experienced fitters to peel the sensitive coating off the cable, which is then ready for the rubbish bin - at a price of 55 euros per cable set, this is more than annoying. With the "Professional" version, where the liner only starts at the end cap of the outer cable to simplify installation, there is also the threat of further trouble. On two of the test bikes we rode, moisture and dust penetrated the cable at precisely this point - recognisable by brown streaks that slowly infiltrate the liner. The shifting function does not suffer directly as a result, but this is not what you would expect from a sealed cable system.

PLUS Low operating and restoring forces
MINUS High installation effort; seal not durable; expensive

Price 54,90 Euro
