Speedplay SYZR Lift: Pedals with height compensation - Speedplay presents new SYZR pedals

Hardly any cyclists have legs of the same length. If the difference in length is compounded by a crooked hip, the difference between the two legs can quickly add up to several millimetres. A special version of Speedplay's SYZR MTB pedal addresses this problem.

Until now, cyclists with a significant difference in leg length had two options: Either fit customised spacers between the sole of the shoe and the pedal cleat, or have custom shoes or insoles made by an orthopaedist. The American pedal manufacturer Speedplay solves the problem of height equalisation directly on the pedal instead. With the SYZR-Lift pedals, the height is adjusted using spacers inside the pedal body. Based on the standardised pedal plate, this covers a vertical adjustment range of two to fifteen millimetres. Advantage: The pedal plates can be fitted as usual and no special shoes are required. Running is also easier than with pedal plates of different heights.

In addition to vertical adjustment, the SYZR-Lift pedals offer the option of customising the lateral distance to the crank. A total of five axle lengths are available for this.

Speedplay did not initially provide any information on the exact cost of the SYZR-Lift pedals. Normal SYZR pedals with a stainless steel axle cost around 200 euros. However, the customisable version of the pedals is likely to be significantly more expensive. In addition to the pure material costs, the service fees for the measurement at the bike fitter, through which the SYZR-Lift pedals are usually sold, must also be taken into account.
