Shimano GRX SPD pedals "United in Gravel": What characterises the new gravel pedals

The double-sided GRX SPD pedals from Shimano have a wide tread surface and a flat profile which, according to the manufacturer, ensures maximum stability on difficult terrain or loose ground. This ensures that your feet remain securely on the pedals even on long or particularly challenging gravel tours and enables efficient power transmission. The abbreviation SPD stands for Shimano Pedalling Dynamics.

The staggered arrangement of the binding mechanisms on both sides is intended to increase resistance to dirt and enable safe engagement and disengagement even after carrying or pushing through deep mud. Mountain bikers and cyclocross riders rely on the dirt resistance of SPD pedals for World Cup races and extreme off-road conditions. Now gravel bikers should also be able to benefit from this dirt resistance.

The robust SPD binding system from Shimano is designed to ensure a secure connection between shoe and pedal, even under extreme conditions on tough gravel tours, while still allowing quick, easy and reliable engagement and disengagement. As with all Shimano SPD pedals, according to Shimano, the release hardness of the "Limited Edition" GRX pedals can also be adjusted so that the strength of the connection between rider and bike can be customised.
