During the 2010 Tour de France, we noticed Look pedals clad on the Astana team's bikes. Race mechanic Faustino Muñoz had skilfully clad Kéo-Blade pedals with a layer of carbon fibre, and manufacturer Look was so taken with the idea that a model called "Aero" is now being launched on the market.

240 grams per pair is still a lightweight construction, the step-in and pedalling position are typically good, the CroMo axle is supported by two ball bearings and one needle bearing. Included are cleat protectors for longer walking distances and two sets of cleats with 4.5 degrees of lateral freedom of movement, one pair of which has grip inserts for better grip when walking. We recommend using the cleat protectors with this type of pedal, as the rubber pads wear out quickly on rough surfaces and can detach from the cleat body. The release force of the carbon spring is 16 Newton metres, a spring with 12 Newton metres is available as a replacement part.
