In the TOUR individual test: the Keo-Blade pedals from Look
Look has renovated its Keo Blade pedal and is launching it with an enlarged contact surface and reduced height. We tested the more affordable Cromo version.

The Cromo version costs 150 instead of 270 euros compared to the premium version with titanium axle, but weighs only 20 grams more per pedal (weight: 110 grams). The reduced height from 18 to 13 millimetres, coupled with the large contact surface, provides more direct contact between shoe and pedal. At the same time, however, the step-in is less comfortable than that of Shimano's competitor with the same system. In particular, if the rubber pads are slightly frayed due to wear, they act as a small entry stopper and require a second attempt. The solution: Switch to plates without rubber stoppers. The release forces for the titanium model can be selected between 12, 16 and 20 Newton metres, while the Cromo version unfortunately does not have the hardest spring for sprinting riders.

PLUS Large-area support; very direct power transmission
MINUS Access

Prices 150 Euro (Cromo)/270 Euro (Titanium)
