Farewell to the mechanical road bike drivetrain: the new SRAM Red is now only available as an electronic eTap AXS groupset. The wireless twelve-speed drivetrain offers a new range of gear ratios and the narrowest bicycle chain in the world.

The new SRAM Red eTap AXS top-of-the-range road bike groupset now only offers wireless electronic shifting. It is optionally equipped with rim brakes or hydraulic disc brakes. A new gear standard creates more range and finer gradation. The twelve-speed cassettes all start at ten teeth, for which a new freewheel standard has been introduced. The chainrings will be available in 50/37, 48/35 and 46/33 gradations. The newly developed 12-speed chain is the narrowest bicycle chain in the world.

The SRAM Red eTap AXS is designed for both 1x and 2x transmissions and is therefore also designed for gravel bikes, time trial bikes and crossers. The Quarq Dzero power meter is optionally integrated into the chainrings. The battery status can be checked and the shifting behaviour changed via a dedicated app.

The new Sram Red eTap AXS is now available in stores and is already fitted to complete bikes. The lowest list price for the 1x groupset starts at 2868 euros, with the version with hydraulic disc brakes and power meter at the top end at 4118 euros.
