The traditional Italian manufacturer explains: "The Ultra component package has been developed to improve both the performance and the aesthetics of the Super Record 13 groupset and make it unique. For those who want the ultimate in performance and lightness."
The large chainring of the Ultra components consists of a load-bearing carbon fibre structure with aluminium teeth. Campa thus promises greater rigidity and better power transmission in addition to lower weight and a very unique look. According to Campagnolo, the toothing is made of 7075 aluminium, which is subjected to a special heat treatment for durability and longevity; the durability and wear resistance of chainrings and chains has always been a Campagnolo strength.
The new chainring was developed at the company headquarters in Vicenza, where it is also manufactured, according to Campa. The carbon chainring is available with 50 or 52 teeth; the smaller one weighs 78 grams and the larger one 102 grams, which is around 30 grams less than its metal counterparts.
The new Ultra 13 cassette now combines the classic sprockets with titanium sprockets milled from solid material, which are available as a block with four or five tooth discs. The cassette with the 10-33 gradation has a 4-sprocket monoblock made of titanium and weighs 215 grams; the cassette with the 11-36 gradation has a 5-sprocket monoblock made of titanium and weighs 238 grams. According to the manufacturer, this represents a weight saving of between 30 and 44 grams compared to the "normal" Super Record, depending on the version.
Campagnolo writes about the new ceramic bearings of the drive shaft: "The bearings are equipped with silicon nitride balls selected according to international aerospace standards. These ensure superior roundness, have virtually no metal particles or impurities and have an excellent surface quality - for optimum sliding performance and a long service life." A double sealing system is also designed to better protect the bearings and improve running smoothness.
According to Campagnolo, the components will be available individually or as an exclusive complete package ("Full Pack") and can be ordered and are available immediately.
