Individual test: K-Edge chain catcher
Weighing just ten grams, the chain catcher from K-Edge should be just about acceptable even for weight fetishists. The smart milled aluminium part, which is available in five colours, certainly makes sense.

If you attach it to the front derailleur clamp, you no longer have to worry about the chain falling inwards when shifting onto the small chainring. Even when the limit screw of the front derailleur is completely open, the chain is guided cleanly onto the chainring by the catcher. Installation works in most cases, but requires a longer M5 bolt than the manufacturer intended for certain clamps. A thicker spacer disc may also have to be inserted for very steep seat angles. For front derailleurs with an integrated mounting clamp, a version is available that is mounted directly on the seat tube. However, it only fits round tubes.

PLUS: lightweight; fits any pipe shape

MINUS: expensive
