"Missing Link" is the name of a chain lock from KMC that allows Campagnolo and Shimano ten-speed chains to be locked and unlocked without a special locking pin and expensive special tools. The two halves of the lock are inserted into the open ends of the link strand and pulled together by hand until they click into place; opening is similarly easy in the opposite direction. KMC has two missing link versions for ten-speed chains in its range: The gold version, labelled "10S", is suitable for all ten-speed chains from Shimano and KMC. The silver "10C" version is suitable for the slightly wider ten-speed chains from Campagnolo. We strongly recommend using only the "10C" version for Campagnolo chains, as the "10S" version can lead to functional restrictions such as stiff chain links.
