Canyon has introduced three categories with ascending prices: Speedmax CF Disc, Speedmax CF SLX Disc and Speedmax CFR Disc. According to Canyon's press release, the new Speedmax CF Disc is only 0.2 watts slower in the wind tunnel (at 45 km/h) than the previous top model Speedmax CF SLX with rim brakes. However, it offers integrated boxes for food and tools and a better set-up.
According to Canyon, the Speedmax CF SLX and CFR should save "between 9 and 10 watts" compared to the previous disc models.
Six versions of the CF range are available for 2021, the top model being the Speedmax CF 8 Disc eTap. All six versions have new tube shapes, a bento box (for stowing food and drink), a tool box above the bottom bracket and a new fork. All CF SLX and CFR model variants of the new Speedmax Disc come with power meters. The R41 Speedmax CF and R40 Speedmax CF SLX models are approved for UCI races.
Prices start at €3,699 for the Speedmax CF 7 Disc with Shimano 105 and Reynolds AR wheels and go up to €6,499 for the CF version with SRAM Force eTap and Zipp 404/808 wheels. The Speedmax CFR costs between €7,799 and €11,999 depending on the equipment. All eleven model variants will be available on the Canyon website from 17 November.
