To get started with watt training, the small sensor unit is simply stuck onto the drive housing. The data is transmitted via Bluetooth Smart and translated into watt and frequency values using an app on the iPhone or iPad (at least 3/4s). The app can be used to train predefined or individual units and the recorded data can be analysed as a cvs or fit file in training software such as GoldenCheetah. Our practical test with Quark Powermeter showed a deviation in wattage values of around minus 10 per cent compared to the crank data for sprint units of 10 seconds. For longer units of several minutes, the accuracy of the Kinetic sensor increased. Kinetic is currently working on the app for Android devices.
