Versatile, straightforward and affordable: the SKS Smartgrip 360 doesn’t require any special smartphone cases. Instead, the SKS uses spring-loaded arms to secure a wide variety of smartphone models. At just under 25 euros, this mount is the most affordable option in our test of six current models.

The affordable all-rounder for bargain hunters

If you mainly use your smartphone for navigation or tracking your workouts, you don’t necessarily have to spend a lot of money on a handlebar mount. Priced at just 24.99 euros, the SKS Smartgrip the most affordable model in the test. As a universal holder, it does not require special smartphone cases, relying instead on side clamps that can accommodate devices of various sizes.

The mount can be fitted to handlebars with diameters ranging from 20.5 to 35 millimetres, covering a wide range of applications from classic round handlebars to modern cockpits. The smartphone holder accommodates both portrait and landscape orientations. However, to secure the phone, both side clamps must be operated with both hands. This works reliably, but is less convenient than with some competitors. Depending on the smartphone model, the clamping arms may also partially cover the side control buttons.

Whilst riding, the clamps ensure a secure hold by fixing the smartphone at specific points on the sides. However, the overall rather bulky design looks a bit clunky, particularly on modern aero handlebars. Weighing 160 grams, the Smartgrip is also one of the heavier holders in this comparison. However, for those who are primarily price-conscious and are looking for a universal solution, this offers a functional and straightforward option without high additional costs.

Here is our test conclusion

The SKS Smartgrab 360 is bulky and relatively heavy, but impresses with its solid build and high-quality materials. The scissor mechanism with self-closing clamps grips the smartphone automatically, but requires both hands to operate. Because the clamps grip the smartphone from the sides across a wide area, not all the control buttons remain accessible; a protective case for the mobile phone is recommended. The clamp mount accommodates handlebar diameters between 20.5 and 35 millimetres, and supports both portrait and landscape orientations. The smartphone wobbles slightly on uneven terrain. The most affordable mount in the test.
