The family of functional "pirate scarves" is growing: the well-known functional tubular scarf manufacturer Buff has added a version with a neoprene visor and a double-layer headband to its programme for summer 2008.
The Buff headband consists of a combination of the Coolmax material familiar from tubular scarves and a UV-protective material. Coolmax allows moisture to evaporate faster than any other textile and thus regulates body heat. At the same time, this Buff scarf blocks 95 per cent of UV rays. The headband is available in 12 designs and can also be worn as a hairband or similar.
The new "Visor Buff® evo_2" visor cap is a lightweight, reversible (as it is double-layered and printed on both sides) cap that, unlike conventional caps, is also made from Coolmax fibres. This makes it very breathable and blocks around 95 per cent of UV rays. The visor buff is also equipped with a flexible neoprene shield that adapts to any head shape and protects the face from the sun's rays. Road cyclists can wear the Buff visor cap under their helmet, either like a traditional team visor cap or like a helmet cap, which also protects the head from draughts.
